Vancouver 2010: NBC Lays Out Plan to Fight Piracy of Online Content

NBC has already announced that it will drastically cut the amount of live streaming video it provides for this year’s Olympics compared to the 2008 Beijing Games. Major live events will be held for the NBC television broadcast, while NBCOlympics.com will focus on highlights from the Vancouver Games.

In order to avoid piracy of this content, NBC has laid out a comprehnsive policing plan that will crawl the Web and block illegally-posted content automatically whenever possible. According to Mediaweek, NBC is also issuing rapid takedown notices when needed.
