Mexico City Production House Upgrades Quantel iQ System to 3D

Mexico City film and TV post production house, New Art Digital, has completed a major upgrade of its Quantel iQ finishing system to Stereo3D operation in order to help its drive into the rapidly developing Stereo3D film and TV markets in Mexico.

“We are the first post production facility in Mexico to offer a complete set of services for Stereo3D projects,” says Javier Leal, New Art Digital Managing Director. “We already have clients that are starting to work in Stereo3D, mainly for animated feature film projects at the moment, but we are also negotiating several Stereo3D cinema commercials projects. We believe that over the next couple of years it will be not only cinemas showing Stereo3D, but broadcasters too. For example, the broadcaster Televisa has already completed a Stereo3D test transmission of a soccer match to cinema audiences. With the Stereo-equipped iQ, we are ideally positioned to deliver services to both sides of the business.”

Leal also sees the iQ as a pivotal in his conventional 2D business, which is mainly in feature film and commercials work.

“Right now, digital image capture with cameras such as the RED and SI2K is really beginning to gain ground against film, and a new infrastructure is necessary to handle this efficiently,” says Leal. “The iQ, with its complete toolset, is the perfect backbone for this kind of work. It provides a highly efficient workflow and saves the clients time and convenience as they do not need to move between several suites to complete different parts of the job – iQ gives them everything they need in one room and one system.”
