WHIO-TV To Implement Avid HD Workflow in New Integrated Facility

WHIO-TV Dayton, OH, will implement a variety of Avid HD news-production solutions in its new, state-of-the-art multimedia broadcast facility scheduled to open in December. The facility will integrate television, radio, and print news businesses, and the Avid systems will enable Cox Media Group Ohio to share a broad range of media assets across all of its properties and create richer and more valuable news content.

“By upgrading our existing solutions and incorporating Interplay and Unity ISIS to share assets across our businesses,” says Chuck Eastman, director of engineering at WHIO-TV, “we’re looking forward to increasing collaborative workflows that will help us turn information around, get it to air, and on our Websites as quickly as possible.”

An end-to-end file-based workflow will be provided by Avid systems that include NewsCutter Mojo DX and Nitris DX editing solutions for creating content; Interplay and Avid Unity ISIS for sharing information across TV, radio, and print via shared storage; iNEWS and iNEWS Instinct to provide journalists with added desktop production capability; Deko 1000 HD and DekoCast to deliver compelling graphics; and AirSpeed multi-stream ingest/playout server to speed time to air.
