Spectra Logic’s T-Finity Tape Library Presented with DICE Award

Avetec’s High Performance Computing (HPC) Research Division – the Data Intensive Computing Environment (DICE) – today awarded the second annual DICE Data Intensive Impact Awards to showcase products and technologies that have enabled progress in HPC data management in locality, movement, manipulation and integrity, as well as power and cooling efficiencies.

In the Product category, DICE selected Spectra Logic’s T-Finity enterprise tape library.

“Our team selected the T-Finity for its versatility in data intensive environments,” says Al Stutz, Avetec CIO and DICE team leader. “The product helps with the demanding archiving and backup environments experienced in the enterprise IT, federal, high performance computing (HPC) and media and entertainment space.”

T-Finity saves customers up to 30 percent on initial capital investments and 15 to 20 percent on annual recurring operational expenses. The library offers redundancy, scaling to more than 45 petabytes in a single library and to more than 180 petabytes in a single, unified library complex.

“HPC organizations have always had more than their share of big-data challenges – from performance to high capacity to long term data access,” says Brian Grainger, Spectra Logic’s VP of worldwide sales. “Spectra Logic’s T-Finity tape library was built to provide HPC environments with high speed performance, superior capacity and ready access to stored data, along with significant cost savings in both capital investments and operating expenses. Spectra Logic is honored to receive this esteemed recognition from the DICE Team.”

Spectra Logic Awarded 2010 Everything Channel Partner Program Guide and Five-Star Partner Rating

Spectra Logic has been recognized by Everything Channel as one of North America’s top information technology (IT) vendors for its SpectraEDGE channel partner program. Additionally, SpectraEDGE was recognized with Everything Channel’s highest Five-Star rating/

SpectraEDGE was awarded Five-Star recognition in Everything Channel’s 16th annual 2010 Partner Program Guide (PPG).
“Creating effective channel programs for our solution providers is a top priority at Spectra Logic and key to our success,” said Betsy Doughty, director of channel development for Spectra Logic. “This success was evident most recently as SpectraEDGE channel partners strongly contributed to Spectra’s calendar year 2009 company profitability and strong double-digit year over year growth in enterprise and mid-range data protection and archive solutions.”

SpectraEDGE is a three-tiered channel partner program.  Spectra Logic provides aggressive pricing, attractive margins, account registration protection, and a suite of 24×7 online educational training through Spectra University. SpectraEDGE was launched in 2008 and its partner base has grown to more than 400 partners worldwide, with recent growth in North and South America, Canada and Europe.

“More than eighty percent of Spectra Logic’s overall revenue is through our channel partners,” added Doughty. “The SpectraEDGE program is designed to support our partners’ success and profitability. We are honored to receive CRN’s 5-Star Partner rating.”

Research for the 2010 Everything Channel Partner Program Guide and the Five-Star Partner Program rating was conducted by Everything Channel’s research department. Everything Channel analyzed 130 vendor programs rating vendors’ responses to in-depth questions about their partner programs in the five elements of sales support, partner profitability, partner ecosystem development/management, partner communication/marketing, and demand generation. To ensure fair comparisons, companies were placed in one of four categories based on company size (Enterprise, Midsize, Small and Emerging).  Questions from each section were scored individually and weighted appropriately.

The PPG list and those companies recognized as five-star will appear in the March 29 issue of CRN magazine and online at www.Channelweb.com.
