SVG Welcomes AXON Digital Design

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome its newest sponsor, AXON Digital Design. AXON develops, manufactures, and markets modular systems and equipment for the processing of audio and video signals (Synapse), multiviewers (SynView), equipment for compliance recording/video logging (TRACS), and software for control and monitoring of AXON and non-AXON equipment (Cortex).  Founded in 1998, AXON is headquartered in the Netherlands and has offices in the Middle East, UK, U.S., and China. The company services many of the major global players in the broadcasting industry and works with more than 55 distributors across the globe.

“We’re very pleased to sign on as a sponsor,” says Marketing Manager Geert-Jan Gussen. “We hope to build our position in the U.S. and feel that this will be a big step in getting a better insight into the U.S. market.”

AXON will have a major presence at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, with several companies using AXON equipment. Both Belgium-based OB-truck provider Alfacam and German systems integrator SVA will be deploying AXON gear when the World Cup hits South Africa in June.

“The fact that these companies have chosen our equipment for all their conversion needs — standards conversion, up/down/crossconversion, all of it — is great for us,” say Gussen.

AXON has found success in the 3D realm, earning a TV Technology STAR Award this month for the Synapse G3D100, a 3-Gbps HD/SD production and transmission tool for 3D applications. Based on the company’s Synapse modular-interface signal-processing tool, the G3D100 is designed for situations that require stereoscopic production with flip or mirror, monitoring in anaglyph, or 3D transmission of stereoscopic into side-by-side or side-by-side to anaglyph. It can be fed with a stereoscopic image (and a backup source) and these sources processed internally to provide multiple outputs.

“We are definitely looking to further expand our 3D business and incorporate more functionality into our signal-processing system on that end,” says Gussen. “For sure, we’re looking into 3D and any other developments on that level.”
