Daktronics Supplies Michigan’s Baseball-Softball Field with New LED Display

Daktronics recently designed, built, and installed a new video display and scoring system for the University of Michigan. Since the beginning of this season, the new Daktronics LED video display and softball scoreboard have informed and entertained fans at Alumni Field, home of all Wolverines baseball and softball home games. Alumni Field is a part of the Wilpon Baseball and Softball Complex in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The LED video display centerpiece of Michigan’s new system measures approximately 8 feet high by 12 feet wide. It shows close-call replays, sponsor information, and university messages to the almost 3,000 seats at Alumni Field.

“Daktronics had great customer service, from sales to engineering and installation to training,” says Chris Onsted, Director of Aquatics, Baseball, Softball and Track and Field at the University of Michigan. “This new system puts us at the top of Big Ten Conference softball facilities.”

The new Daktronics softball scoreboard rests directly below the video display in Ann Arbor. It was engineered with LED technology similar to the video display and provides up-to-the-second game information to players, fans, and umpires.

“Daktronics is excited to partner with the University of Michigan Athletics on their new softball project,” says Jeff Buckley, Daktronics Sales. “The new video and scoring system gives Wolverine softball fans a whole new level of entertainment while providing the players and coaches with state-of-the-art amenities for their facility.”
