CBC Seeks To Improve U.S. Business Through SVG Sponsorship

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome its newest sponsor, CBC Mobile Productions. The division of the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (CBC) has provided mobile-production services throughout Canada and the U.S. for more than 40 years. Although the largest provider of mobile audio and video service in Canada, CBC Mobile also works on several U.S.-based productions.

“There are a lot of events that SVG does that I think are very important ,and we want our people there,” says Dale Smith, director of CBC Mobile Productions. “We have a lot of good relationships with the folks in the mobile industry, and we’re looking to develop those. We really want to be part of that mobile community and get a real sense of where the marketplace is going.”

CBC Mobile has been busy thus far in 2010, providing trucks for a host of NHL and Stanley Cup Playoffs games as well for other sports, entertainment,
news, and special-events programming. In addition, they had a mobile presence at February’s Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The 2010 Olympics were not new to CBC, which have had mobiles at the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta, the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, and the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake. CBC was also the Host Broadcaster for the 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg, the 2001 World Championships in Athletics in Edmonton, the 2005 FINA World Aquatic Championships, and the 2007 FIFA U-20 Men’s World Cup.

“We are also looking to further improve our relationships with companies south of the border to assist them when they have capacity issues,” says Smith. “I think SVG will go a long way in helping us do that.”
