Dalet Aims at Bigger Presence in Sports-Industry Media Management

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome its newest sponsor, Dalet Digital Media Systems. Founded in 1990, Dalet is a worldwide leader in software that empowers broadcasters and content professionals to produce and manage audio and video content in a digital, multi-platform world. Dalet Enterprise Edition manages workflow for sports news, production, archives, and enterprise media-asset management (MAM).

Dalet solutions are used in 50 countries by more than 1, 700 customers. With SVG, Dalet looks to build on its quickly growing position in the U.S. sports market with a client portfolio that already includes Speed network, Fox Sports, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

‘We’ve always looked at SVG as a very interesting organization,” says Benjamin Desbois, GM, Dalet Digital Media Systems USA. “It’s not only an elite group of potential customers for us but also a great group of people that have an interest in improving the sports-broadcasting industry.  For a while, we felt that we did not necessarily have the right product or profile for SVG, but we feel, with a few new acquisitions and customers, we now are ready to be a part of that.”

Dalet MAM solutions streamline production workflow and increase revenue opportunities by simplifying the distribution of rich-media assets across both traditional and interactive platforms. Its main product, Dalet Enterprise Edition, is an open platform designed to facilitate highly efficient and collaborative workflows. Natively integrated production tools manage ingest, logging, production, playout, archive, and distribution of content across multiple platforms. Developed on the principles of service-oriented architecture (SOA), Dalet Enterprise Edition leverages the full capabilities of modern IT technologies. Its Workflow Engine and Web Services API provides future-proof openness and agility to meet the broadcast and business requirements of today and tomorrow.

“We’re talking to the leagues, we’re talking to the teams, we’re talking to the sports broadcasters, and there’s a lot of interest,” says Desbois. “We’ve developed some solutions that are a lot more sports-specific. We think it’s going to be a key market for us. We’re bringing a new toolbox, so to speak, for file-based workflow in sports. We will be showing a lot of these [new sports-related services] at IBC in September.”

Dalet joins SVG as a sponsor on the heels of its acquisition last week of Gruppo TNT, a privately held Italian company that specializes in advanced broadcast solutions. “TNT Gruppo is bringing in complementary technologies that will be sports-related,” says Desbois. “We’re really trying to provide some solutions that are much more sports-centric — for production, archiving, and content management.”
