ARD’s Bundesliga Football Highlights Program Taps Impire for Graphics

Statistical analysis specialist Impire has won the contract to provide graphics systems and operators for German public broadcaster ARD’s weekly Bundesliga highlights programme, Sportschau. The deal runs until 2013 and also covers football programmes produced by WDR, an affiliate member of the ARD regional network.

Impire holds what it claims is the largest database on the Bundesliga (the German premier league). The company updates the information each week, with four trained observers watching every match played in the division. During the 2010/11 season Impire will be providing services for the intranets of leading clubs VfB Stuttgart and Hannover 96 and T-Online’s Champions League coverage.

As part of the ARD Sportschau and WDR productions Impire is using DELTA-highlight, the latest graphics product from Deltacast. This was developed from the company’s established DELTA-sport image processing virtual graphics system.

DELTA-highlight is used to analyse offside decisions, highlight players in animated sequences, magnify detail, display shot speeds and track the trajectory of the ball.
