National 3D Demo Days Bring US Open, Ohio State-Miami To Retail Stores Across US

Consumers without the benefit of a 3DTV at home will be given the chance to see both the US Open and the Ohio State-Miami college football game live in 3D this weekend, as the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), ESPN, and electronics retailers from across the country have teamed up for National 3D Demo Days.

From Friday, Sept. 10 through Sunday, Sept. 12, retailers (including Best Buy, CompUSA, Fry’s Home Electronics, Sam’s Club, Sears and independent specialty retailers) will host special 3D events at their stores featuring live 3D telecasts of the two events as well as promotions and demonstrations. Experts and sales representatives will be available in stores this weekend to answer 3DTV questions.

A complete listing of participating retailers and locations can be found here.

DIRECTV will provide the US Open tennis semifinal and final matches live in 3D on the channel n3D, powered by Panasonic, on Friday (12:30-6 p.m. ET), Saturday (12-6 p.m. and 8-11 p.m.), and Saturday (4-7 p.m.).

On Saturday at 3:30 p.m., ESPN 3D will feature the live telecast of No. 3 Ohio State hosting No. 19 Miami. Additional ESPN 3D programming in stores will include the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the X Games 16, a 3D replay of college football’s Boise State vs. Virginia Tech, and 3D footage from the Harlem Globetrotters.
