India’s Geminia Lab Orders More Quantel Systems for Postproduction Needs

Gemini Lab, a digital film facility based in Chennai, India, has purchased additional Quantel Pablo Neo and iQ systems to double its digital film post production capability. The investment follows Gemini’s purchase twelve months ago of a major Quantel DI system with two Pablos, an iQ and a Sam to launch its new digital film laboratory.

Gemini’s digital film laboratory’s demand continues to rise, so Gemini has built an entirely new facility to house its expanded operation. The new facility will have two GenePools to provide a shared workflow infrastructure between the Quantel systems.

In addition, Gemini Lab has placed an order for a further Quantel DI system to launch its new DI facility opening in Hyderabad.

Gemini has been testing Quantel’s new soft assist technology, previewed at IBC, and expects to add it their workflow in the very near future. This increases the productivity of the Quantel grading and finishing suites by allowing time-consuming preparation work to be done on the software-only stations.

“Quantel technology has helped us into a leadership position in our market,” says Ravishankar Prasad, Gemini Managing Director. “As a result, even with the amazing productivity of our existing Quantel systems, as we continue our rapid growth, we need to expand our DI capacity. Naturally we have turned again to Quantel. The developments we have seen at IBC in Amsterdam have underlined the confidence we have in Quantel and we look forward to continuing our productive partnership in future.”
