Rimage Expands Presence in College Market with UNC, UVA, Two Others

Rimage has received independent orders from four collegiate organizations for disc publishing systems to manage sports video within their athletic departments. The orders were received and shipped within Q3.

The sports departments of the University of Virginia, the University of North Carolina and two other collegiate organizations each purchased a Rimage Professional disc publishing system for their football programs to archive practice and game footage as well as distribute video to coaches and players.

The advent of digital video has transformed collegiate football coaching and training methods, forcing teams to find ways to safely store and efficiently share the video with players, coaches, and fans.

“We were just putting content on terabyte hard drives or standalone, portable hard drives,” says Chris Luke, director of football operations at the University of North Carolina.  “Now I can export footage from my DVSport editing system directly to DVD or Blu-ray Disc™ for shelf archive.”

The Rimage Professional and Producer Series of disc publishers are proven solutions for archiving and distributing sports video content.  The Rimage publishers connect directly to sports editing platforms including DVSport, XOS, CoachComm, LRS, and Webb Electronics. When exporting game or practice footage, all the logged metadata carries over to the archive copy for future retrieval needs.

“Collegiate football teams are the tip of the iceberg when it comes to managing sports video,” said Chris Wells, VP of marketing and strategy at Rimage. “We’re seeing strong interest in this solution from NFL teams and many other sports organizations both in the US and in other countries.”
