Ole Miss Upgrades Athletics Facilities with Daktronics Displays

The University of Mississippi has chosen the Daktronics to design, manufacture and install integrated systems throughout their campus.

“We are excited about the new video boards for basketball, baseball and softball as well as new scoreboards for indoor and outdoor tennis,” says Ole Miss Senior Executive Associate Athletics Director John Hartwell. “Video and LED displays are an integral piece to our continued and concentrated effort to enhance the game day experience in all of our sports for our student-athletes, coaches and fans.”

C.M. Tad Smith Coliseum will see upgrades with a centerhung display, featuring four LED video displays measuring approximately seven feet high by 13 feet wide with 10 millimeter pixel layout. Two ring displays, featuring 15 millimeter pixel layout, are also part of the centerhung structure and will be able to show a variety of graphics, animations and statistical information. Overall the display will measure approximately 17 feet high by 24 feet wide and will also feature four dedicated scoring sections. Daktronics will be providing a custom Vortek 8,000 pound capacity hoist system as well. In addition, Daktronics will be providing a custom Sportsound system for the arena.

The Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center will receive a tennis scoreboard with an electronic message display, as well as six single court tennis scoreboards, while the Gillom Sports Center will receive three custom outdoor tennis scoreboards.

The Ole Miss Softball Complex will soon feature a 23 mm LED video display. The display measures approximately 13 feet high by 23 feet wide.

Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field will be home to a new video display that will utilize Daktronics newest 15 mm LED technology, featuring a tighter resolution and improved image quality. The display will measure approximately 23 feet high by 36 feet wide. The video board can operate as a single giant display or be divided into multiple zones (windows) to show a wide variety of statistics, information, graphics, animation and live and recorded video.

In addition, two double-faced marquees will be installed at the major intersections on campus and will feature Daktronics video messaging technology with a 16 millimeter pixel layout.
