Verizon Business Aims To Create New Game-Day Experience

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome Verizon Business as a corporate sponsor. A leading provider of global IT, security, and communication solutions based on its highly connected IP networks, the company combines its broad range of strategies and expertise to help some of the world’s largest organizations — including governments and 96% of the Fortune 1000 — meet the challenges of their increasingly complex and extended enterprises. Services include managed technology services, consulting, outsourcing, network and data security, cloud computing, and SaaS enablement.

The Verizon Interactive Arena & Stadium Initiative was formed to address the unique needs of sports and entertainment venues worldwide. Fans today expect more than a game; they want a game-day experience. The initiative’s goal is to help stadium owners generate additional revenues using targeted, interactive fan messaging and engagement through the focused deployment of technology. An integrated network infrastructure (voice, data, and video) allows stadium owners and managers to optimize venue operations and maximize efficiencies.

“Verizon is helping to change the game for sports fans,” says D.J. Dozier, industry partner, sports & entertainment, for Verizon Business and former NFL running back and Major League Baseball outfielder. “We look forward to working with the Sports Video Group to share our vision and expertise with other sports-venue owners and operators and to take advantage of the many benefits SVG has to offer.”

Verizon’s recent network deployment at the New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey helped create a state-of-the art sporting venue, delivering one of the most technologically advanced experiences in sports and entertainment. Home of the New York Giants and New York Jets (and the Super Bowl in 2014), the stadium makes use of several Verizon technologies: 34 channels of customized HD content, including premium-channel content; planned Verizon Wireless mobile apps; luxury suites outfitted with integrated Verizon Voice-over-IP service supporting food, beverage, and retail ordering; and WiFi networking, which will enable ticket scanning and wireless concession services. Verizon IT consultants helped design and implement the technology that it and other companies delivered to bring the New Meadowlands vision to fruition.

Verizon also provided professional services for the Consol Energy Center, home of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Verizon delivered an integrated communications infrastructure supporting such technological amenities as more than 800 HD screens throughout the stadium. Whether gathering real-time statistics or taking advantage of social-media applications available in the center, fans are able to enrich and share their game-day experience in a new way.
