NAB 2011: Frontline To Debut Van-Size Satellite Vehicle

Frontline Communications, an Oshkosh Corp. company, will introduce its AN IP-SNG HT broadcast news vehicle at next month’s NAB Show.

This new platform is a joint development of a major TV network, Frontline, and ND Satcom to provide broadcasters with reliable and secure real-time IP-based communications via satellite on a standardized vehicle platform. The High Top interior layout was redesigned on the Ford E-350 van chassis to provide an ergonomic solution for the latest newsgathering demands, including an articulating keyboard tray at the street-side editing console and a convenient interior I/O panel adjacent to the racks.

Frontline will also showcase a dual-band (C and Ku) satellite transmission truck delivered to Peak Communications of Colorado, which will use it for major-league sports transmissions in Full HD in both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compression. Peak is a large supplier of satellite transmission services for sports events in the western U.S.
