Illinois State, South Carolina in Focus at CSVS

The 2011 College Sports Video Summit is fast approaching and more colleges will be represented at this year’s event than ever before. The third-annual Summit, to be held June 7-8 at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel in Atlanta, will feature two new case studies, announced this week.

From Jeff Volk, Director of the Sports and Entertainment Group at Alpha Video, attendees will learn to create Creative Control Rooms for Every Budget. Volk has overseen dozens of college-venue control room integration projects, working with a range of budgetary restrictions. In this case study, Volk will touch on his work at the University of Nebraska, University of Kansas, and Illinois State Universities. With three very different budgets, Volk will discuss how Alpha Video delivered the same core production and system requirements, creating HD-ready control rooms at all three facilities.

Conference attendees can also go Behind the Scenes of Gamecock Confidential. When the University of South Carolina hired a new softball coach, the Gamecock Productions staff wanted to find an innovative way to introduce her to the community. Gamecock Productions Director Paul Danna led a group of four students and two staff members to produce six episodes of Gamecock Confidential, a behind-the-scenes series starring the South Carolina softball team. After posting the episodes to the school’s Website and YouTube and using social media, South Carolina tripled its softball season ticket sales. Danna will lead a discussion of how the shows were produced, distributed, and received, both inside the South Carolina community and beyond.
