Fox, Big Ten Network Add Davis, Johnson to Talent Lineup

Fox Sports is beefing up its college-sports talent lineup with the addition of Charles Davis and Gus Johnson. The announcers, who will serve as Fox’s lead college-football team starting with the 2011 season, will work both on the broadcast side, with Fox Sports, and on cable, with the Big Ten Network. The duo will join Fox’s coverage of college football and basketball this fall, including coverage of college football championship games and the Cotton Bowl on Fox Sports.

“All of us here at Fox Sports are just tickled that Gus is able to be a new member of the Fox Sports family,” says Eric Shanks, co-president/COO/executive producer, Fox Sports Media Group. “Charles has been a long-time part of the Fox family, and he’s also worked with Mark Silverman at the Big Ten Network before. Teamed together, I think we’re going to have one of the most dynamic announce teams that college football has seen in a long time.”

Davis and Johnson will also bring their talents in tandem to the Big Ten Network, where Johnson, in particular, has already made a mark.

“The network is thrilled to have Gus Johnson back doing more games than ever before,” says Mark Silverman, president of the Big Ten Network. “He’s a huge fan favorite. We hear from fans all the time how much they love watching games that Gus is calling. Having Gus and Charles together as a football team makes the network better than it’s ever been.”

Johnson spent 16 years with CBS before joining Fox. He will call Big 12, Conference USA, and Pac-12 football on Fox and FX and Big Ten football on the Big Ten Network, Pac-12 basketball, Big Ten basketball, and some NFL games on Fox.
