Chyron’s IBC Plans Ride on the Clouds; 3D Added to LEX 3.1

Bonnie Barclay, vice president and chief marketing officer of Chyron and the Chyron team is in an international state of mind for the next few weeks, with stops in Sau Paulo, Brazil for the Broadcasting & Cable Show and then to Amsterdam for IBC beginning Sept. 9. On both stops the focus is clear: to keep improving the user experience for graphics and production professionals courtesy of new features that are inexpensive yet improve workflow.

For IBC attendees the hot news at stand 7.D11 will be the debut of Axis World. The cloud-based asset management system allows users to store video assets and stills in the cloud, making possible to search and retrieve assets like AXIS maps, charts, animations and even pre-built graphics packages.

“It also has a new interface and design and support for three languages, German, Spanish, and French,” says Barclay. “It also now supports upload from Photoshop and Flash.”

The system is available in Europe when the show begins and later this year will be available in the remainder of the EMEA region.

Cloud-based services has become the hot topic among all broadcast and post production professionals and the use of cloud-based graphics systems has been a hallmark of remote operations for years. But Barclay says many organizations still don’t have a complete plan for cloud-based operations.

“There are risk takers and those who are risk averse and trailblazers and those who want a lit, four lane highway,” says Barclay. “But this is something that CTOs have to have in their plans. And graphics can be supported so easily through the cloud.”

Also making its IBC debut will be BlueNet, a system that leverages Chyron’s suite of graphics tools and streamlines ordering and graphics asset management, collaborative graphics creation, and real-time playout. Integration with AXIS, Chyron’s cutting edge cloud-based services offering, extends the power of BlueNet workflows. BlueNet will be on display at Chyron’s stand as well as the Adobe stand.

“BlueNet is gaining momentum and now we are adding support for nonlinear editing systems like Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premier Pro Plus,” says Barclay. “It changes the way editors can edit because they can put graphics straight into their packages.”

And then, of course, there are the ubiquitous 3D developments. For Chyron that means a stereoscopic 3D versions of LEX 3.1, a scaleable graphics and animation system for news needs.

“The 3D addition is part of our innovation and it will be a free feature,” says Barclay. “It’s future proof and 3D is something broadcasters shouldn’t have to worry about future upgrades.”
