Texas Rangers, Tampa Bay Rays Hold Ratings High

The Texas Rangers’ 2-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on August 27 produced the team’s highest television rating of the season and the fourth best of all-time on FOX Sports Southwest, according to Nielsen Media Research. The game averaged a 7.0 household rating and a 12 share in Dallas-Fort Worth, topping the previous season high of 6.4 on Aug. 18 against the Los Angeles Angels.

An average of 181,600 Dallas-Fort Worth homes watched Tuesday’s game. It was the most-watched program in the market from 8:00-10:15 p.m. when it averaged a 7.5 rating (194,850 homes), and finished as the No. 2 program of the night behind CBS’ NCIS (7.3).

Tuesday night’s rating ranks No. 4 on FOX Sports Southwest’s Rangers’ all-time list behind a 9.3 on Aug. 11, 2010 vs. the New York Yankees, an 8.0 on Aug. 10, 2010 vs. the New York Yankees; and a 7.3 on Aug. 25, 2010 vs. the Minnesota Twins.

For the season, Rangers games on FOX Sports Southwest are averaging a 3.9 rating, a 10% increase over last year’s season average at this point of the season.
