Broadcast Pix STARs at IBC2011

Broadcast Pix’s new Mica live video production system was honored with the STAR Award from TV Technology Europe during IBC2011 earlier this month in Amsterdam. The STAR Award (short for Superior Technology Award Recipient) is designed to celebrate and showcase technological innovations for the broadcast industry.

The new Mica system provides pristine HD and leadership integration in a compact, cost effective package. It harnesses the native HD technology from the award-winning Broadcast Pix Granite systems, and includes Broadcast Pix Fluent software, which tightly integrates video and file-based content, so even a single operator can create compelling live productions. Housed in a single 4 RU case, Mica includes a multidefinition switcher that can mix eight HD/SD-SDI inputs with seven channels of internal clips, animations, and graphics. There is support for up to six keyers and DVEs, six HD/SD-SDI outputs, and two DVI outputs. It also includes a 30-hour clip store and a Harris or optional Chyron character generator.

“We want to thank TV Technology Europe for recognizing Mica with a STAR Award during IBC,” said Ken Swanton, president, Broadcast Pix. “It’s always gratifying when other industry professionals appreciate your new products. We think our Mica family of products will be a big asset for video professionals, because it provides all the tools you need to create compelling live HD video at the price of a switcher.”
