Global Crossing Optimizes Communications for BRQ

Global Crossing, a global IP and Ethernet solutions provider, has expanded its agreement with BRQ IT Services to provide Managed WAN Optimization services.  Global Crossing’s WAN connects BRQ’s data center in the state of São Paulo to more than 2,500 employees distributed in the cities of São Paulo, Barueri, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Fortaleza, and Brasilia.

“BRQ is operating at a new level of network performance focused on the visibility of applications,” said Marcos Malfatti, senior vice president of sales at Global Crossing Brazil.  “The result is the alignment of costs with higher productivity, and is an example of how Global Crossing can help customers continuously improve their performance in multiple locations, nationally or globally.”

BRQ will use the Global Crossing service to provide access to shared applications, such as remote file servers, billing, and accounting systems. The service significantly reduces latency, optimizing the performance of distributed applications and, as a result, improves employee productivity.

“A network perfectly in tune with our business requirements and the implementation of the right tools is essential to ensuring the performance of the applications that are important to our business,” explained José Carlos Magno, infrastructure manager at BRQ.  “Global Crossing has provided our communications link and our Multi Protocol Label Switching network since 2008, and consistently delivers innovations that improve our communications infrastructure.”

International Data Corporation named BRQ the second largest applications company in Brazil.  In addition, the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals has awarded BRQ “Best Rising Star” in the categories Latin America, Financial Industry and Billing.

Global Crossing’s Network Management Solutions enable customers to delegate to Global Crossing operational tasks and activities associated with monitoring the telecommunications network, enabling the customer to focus on its core business.
