Harris Offers Up Demos, Workshops at CCW/HD World

Harris Broadcast Communications returns to CCW/HD World (Oct. 12-13, Jacob. K. Javits Convention Center, New York) with presentations and demonstrations planned on its booth (#901) and elsewhere.

Harris will present a workshop on loudness control on Wednesday, October 12 at 1 p.m. in Conference Room 2. The one-hour session, “Loudness Control: It’s not only a good idea, it’s the law!,” will be hosted by Randy Conrod, product manager, digital products, Harris Broadcast Communications.

The workshop will cover the contributing factors for loudness control requirements, regulatory issues, industry standards and solutions that enable compliance with the CALM Act in the U.S. and other global recommendations. Conrod will also explore why loudness technology is a “collision of biology and technology,” and how broadcasters can effectively manage their operations for compliance preparation.

Stan Moote, vice president, business development, Harris Broadcast Communications will moderate “Cloud Computing — Empowering Workflow from Production to Post.” The panel will discuss practical uses for cloud computing and how it offers access to media from any location, and with unlimited capacity. The panel, part of the HD Content Creation, Management and Production track, will also take place on Wednesday, October 12 from 1-2 p.m. in Conference Room 1.

Media Convergence
The rise of compressed signals in the broadcast environment will be on the minds of many at HD World. Fresh from IBC, Harris will show new enhancements to its Selenio media convergence platform for the first time in the U.S., including a 10-bit video contribution encoder, linear frame rate conversion, and new user interface features to simplify ease of use and integration.

Harris will also show its compact HView IP multiviewer, demonstrating its power as a video network display and monitoring solution for multichannel broadcasters and video headend providers. HView IP is built for networked environments where monitored feeds are primarily compressed video or audio.

Workflow Integration
Harris will also demonstrate tighter workflow integration in fast-paced, file-based newsroom environments via its NewsForce solution. The demonstration features a compact news and video production solution with Harris NEXIO AMP server and Velocity non-linear editing systems, demonstrating exceptional reliability, flexibility, and format transparency in digital news production.

Other activities on the booth include a variety of Mobile DTV demonstrations driven by Harris MPH solutions, delivering video, audio, and data to handheld devices; and a Videotek test and measurement station showcasing a range of fixed, portable and handheld solutions for TV stations, production trucks and other facilities. Harris will specifically showcase Videotek products from its Compact Monitor Series, VTM Series of waveform rasterizers, and STAR Series of handheld monitors and generators.
