AVS Wraps up Six Weeks of RF Coverage at Rugby World Cup Finals

Aerial Video Systems (AVS) will be on site on October 23rd as The Rugby World Cup, the largest sporting event in New Zealand’s history, wraps up with the finals between France and New Zealand.

AVS has spent the last seven weeks supplying 12 Link L1500 HD wireless systems for both the world coverage and domestic broadcasts of the RWC. Four of AVS’s customized Sony P-1 steadicam camera packages were also part of the RWC package along with 12 AVS proprietary RF-over-fiber systems, comms and crew.

To cover all 48 matches Sky Sports, the host broadcaster, utilized four trucks and two flypacks at 12 separate venues. The Rugby World Cup has been viewed in over 200 countries by more than 4 billion people making this the third most watched sporting event in the world.

Drawing on AVS’s long history of supporting events throughout New Zealand, AVS coordinated country-wide frequency licenses, allowing for seamless transitions from venue to venue.
