Atlantic 10 Schools Select XOS for Basketball HD Replay

XOS Digital, a provider of content management solutions and digital media services for collegiate and professional sports organizations, announced that Temple, La Salle, Fordham, and Rhode Island universities have added the XOS HD Replay product line for the game-day operations of their men’s and women’s basketball teams.

“We’re proud to provide the basketball-specific version of the XOS HD Replay system to these schools,” said Chris McCleary, CEO, XOS Digital. “This technology makes it easy for replay technicians to provide high definition video to game officials in order to make accurate calls in the most efficient manner on the market.”

XOS HD Replay uses technology similar to that found among conferences such as the SEC, Big 12, WAC and Conference USA during the 2011 college football season, as well as in eighteen bowl games and two Bowl Championship Series (BCS) games. However, XOS HD Replay for basketball is software based and has a smaller footprint as it was designed with limited courtside space in mind. The system guarantees shot clock synchronization through a method exclusive to XOS Replay which includes inserting the shot clock feed into each video capture feed.

The XOS HD Replay system for basketball is designed to provide opportunities for quick and accurate analysis, which includes features such as:

  • Multi-angle HD video capturing
  • Single-person operation
  • Zoom capabilities
  • Portability via laptop and a 20-inch monitor
  • Expedited marked-play review
  • Game-clock synchronization for accuracy
  • TV feeds (not required)

The schools will also implement XOS Review, a web-based software application for managing, grading and training officials that incorporates stats and associated video. XOS Review works in conjunction with XOS Replay and automatically exports reviewed plays, associated calls, and officials’ information to XOS Review. Officiating administrators can pull reports based on a particular game, team, official, foul or call and review video associated with each play to evaluate officials’ performance. Upcoming schedules and training material can also be posted to the site for secure and easy access by the officials.

“Officials don’t always have access to broadcast feeds, so for the schools that have installed the XOS HD Replay system, we are now poised to capture all the angles they need to make the right calls,” said Lee Roberts, assistant athletic director, facilities and event management at Temple University. “Because of XOS Digital’s widespread reputation among leading conferences as the best in sports technology, the decision for this partnership was an easy one for us.”
