espnW’s Journeys and Victories Focuses on Inspiring Stories of Female Athletes

espnW.com is the home of Journeys and Victories,  a new, original series of inspiring stories from female athletes, produced by ESPN anchor Hannah Storm’s production company, Brainstormin’ Productions. The series seeks to inspire and motivate female athletes and fans as they undertake their own fitness challenges.

To date, the series has featured several compelling stories including: Maureen Shea, a female featherweight professional boxer with a record of 15 wins, nine knockouts and two losses and NABF Featherweight Champion. Shea is known as the “Real Million Dollar Baby” because of her work as the main sparring partner for actress Hilary Swank in her preparation for the 2005 movie, Million Dollar Baby.

After losing 7-6 in last year’s championship game, Boston Ravens head coach Donnie Williams knew his team needed a kicker who could help them win a close game. Enter Danielle Resha, the first female semi-pro football player in the Eastern Conference League.

Maureen McGown’s fight against Hodgkin’s lymphoma led her to become a triathlete, which helped her when her brother was then diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The series launched in partnership with Proctor & Gamble brands Venus and Secret.  P&G works with espnW to develop integrated content as well as events focused on the female athlete.

Fans can also participate in the series by submitting ideas for inspiring stories.  To enter a submission, fans can visit espnW.com and click on the Journeys and Victories tab.
