YES Network Goes Behind the Scenes with Yankees Access

YES Network will premiere its new series, Yankees Access, tonight at 8 pm ET. Fans will get exclusive access to Yankees star Curtis Granderson, as a result of YES Yankees reporter Jack Curry’s trip to Taiwan earlier this month. Curry  accompanied an MLB All-Star team that included Granderson and fellow Yankees star Robinson Cano.

Yankees Access is a new series that provides unprecedented behind-the-scenes off-the-field access to Yankees players.

Among the highlights of Tuesday’s series premiere:

During an on-field demonstration, Granderson shows Curry step-by-step how he and Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long changed the Granderson’s batting stance in August 2010, which led to a tremendous improvement in his offensive output.  To help prove a point, Curry shows how easy it is to push over Granderson while he’s in his old stance, and how difficult it is to do so in his new stance.

A visit by Granderson and Curry to Snake Alley, one of the famous “night markets” in Taipei where Granderson did a shot of snake blood (the snake was killed in front of Granderson, and the blood drained on the spot).

Curry interviews Granderson in the dugout immediately following Granderson’s grand slam in the first game of the MLB vs. Taiwan All-Stars series.
