Live from the U.S. Open: Corplex Goes Global

Four production units from Corplex are playing a key role at this year’s U.S. Open, serving as the USGA’s main production facilities for Sky Sports in Europe, TV Asahi in Japan, and the world feed.

“Asahi is operating out of Platinum A and B and Sky is in Iridium A and B,” says Scott West, Corplex, president and partner. “The world feed is operating out of two Lyon 8 production trucks.” The Lyon trucks had to be brought in by Corplex as its other units were unavailable.

West says operations are similar to previous U.S. Opens as the units are tied into the NEP ESU unit to deliver upwards of 40 camera signals to production teams in the trucks. A Corplex cable truck is also on hand to ensure that the cabling and infrastructure within the production compound and between the trucks are up to snuff. Sky is also making use of Sony cameras from Corplex while the world feed relies on Grass Valley cameras in the Lyon Video units.
