Aside from the tent-pole events, May brought big announcements in the sports television world, including Dick Ebersol’s shocking departure from NBC Sports Group as chairman (though he has since returned as an Olympics and Sunday Night Football consultant), as well as the retirement of long-time president Ken Schanzer. In addition, the Pac-12 inked a lucrative rights deals with Fox and ESPN and announced plans to launch a conference network (later to become six RSNs and a main network).

SVG also hosted the 3D & Beyond Summit at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City, providing an overview of the latest developments in next-generation technologies like 3D, 1080p, and 4K.
