SMT, Spike TV Stream Real-time Social Media at CES

SportsMEDIA Technology Corporation (SMT) and Spike TV will convert social media enthusiasts to CES tradeshow participants on January 10 during a five-hour kickoff of Spike TV’s CES All Access Live. The 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, known as the Super Bowl of technology, runs January 10-13 in Las Vegas, NV.

Viewers can actively participate in tradeshow coverage by posting on Twitter and Facebook, which Spike TV hosts will monitor via SMT’s GOTO (Giant On-Air Talent Operated) Board, responding to viewers’ comments in real-time. Fans are encouraged to ask questions, participate in opinion polls, share thoughts on newly announced products, comment on the topic being discussed in real-time, or propose a change of topic.

Spike TV hosts can operate the 65-inch GOTO Board as a touch screen or remotely with an SMT configured wireless tablet. Viewers will see their posts displayed on-screen and will have unprecedented access to breaking news stories during multi-platform event coverage (TV, online, mobile, and social media).

“SMT continues to break new ground with our customized interactive social media platform designed for Spike,” said Don Tupper, vice president of business development at SMT. “For those fans who thrive on the latest in technology, we can extend the entertainment experience by driving them to their second screens as they watch live coverage, enabling them to connect with the hosts and celebrities at CES.”

The Spike TV CES All Access Live utilizing SMT’s GOTO Board features five dimensions:

·         What’s Spiking – Will display which top exhibitors are currently getting the greatest social media buzz.

·         CES Chatter – A compilation of tweets and Facebook posts.

·         Tech Track – RSS feed of Spike TV and Gizmodo blogs.

·         Live Poll – Graphic summary of viewers’ responses to reporters’ questions.

·         Top 5 – “Best 5 Moments of CES,” as selected by Spike talent.

SMT’s DMX Switchboard (Data Matrix Switchboard) will absorb, collate, and synchronize the vast amount of streaming data from multiple social media sources into a proprietary SMT database. Pulling information from the live database, the DMX Switchboard will immediately supply multi-platform, all-encompassing summaries via the GOTO Board.
