Campus Clips: Longhorn Network to Air Over 60 UT Baseball, Softball Games; Washington College to Launch Goose Nation TV

Longhorn Network will exclusively televise 32 games of the University of Texas baseball team and 30 games of the softball program this spring. The games, stretching from January through May, will comprise more than 124 hours of live event programming for the 24/7 University of Texas network.

LHN’s baseball coverage begins Saturday, Jan. 28, with the alumni game featuring former Longhorns Roger Clemens, Huston Street, Drew Stubbs, Brandon Belt, James Russell and others. Kevin Dunn and Carter Blackburn, college sports commentator for ESPN, will handle play-by-play duties for the network, and former Major Leaguer Greg Swindell will serve as analyst. In addition, Texas GameDay hosted by Lowell Galindo from UFCU Disch-Falk Field will provide comprehensive pre-game coverage of seven games including interviews with players and coaches, analysis and features.  Beginning in March, legendary Texas head coach Augie Garrido will host a weekly 30-minute coach’s show from Longhorn Network’s Austin studio.

For softball, LHN will air 30 exclusive game telecasts, 16 of which will feature UT against 2011 NCAA Championship participants and seven against 2011 Women’s College World Series participants. The first game will be televised Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. when the Longhorns host Cal State Fullerton. All-American and two-time Olympian Cat Osterman will share analyst duties with former NFCA first team All-American and Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Year, Amanda Scarborough, from Red and Charline McCombs Field…

…Washington College Athletics, in partnership with Stretch Internet, is planning to launch Goose Nation TV as its official online video and audio portal. The platform will feature the live video and audio broadcasts currently streamed via the Washington College Sports Network on Justin.tv as well as feature programming currently found on WashingtonCollegeSports.com and the department’s YouTube page. Goose Nation TV’s live video broadcasts will feature on-screen graphics and replay and expects to switch over to high-definition video this spring. Goose Nation TV is expected to launch next month…

…The Big Ten Network carried live coverage of Thursday’s “A Memorial for Joe” held at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center in honor of deseased former head football coach Joe Paterno. The event was broadcast across all of BTN’s platforms including BTN2Go and BTN.com. On-air talent Mike Hall was also on-site conducting interviews. Videos of speakers are also archived at BTN.com…
