XOS Digital College Sports Apps Launch on PlayStation 3

XOS Digital, a provider of sports video technology, launched two new college sports apps on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation3, earning status as the first to bring college football, among other sports, to the PS3.

The new SEC Digital Network and XOS College Sports apps will provide access to thousands of hours of historical college sports footage, documentaries and original XOS productions, with games and documentaries added to the library weekly. Fans can now play, pause and replay their favorite moments from some of the most watched games and documentaries on record, including the annual Iron Bowl rivalry between Auburn and Alabama and 20 years of SEC Championships.

Both apps include the “My Library” feature, in which fans can create a library of full games and other content “in the cloud.” These libraries are accessible through the PlayStation 3 system. In the near future, consumers can purchase full-game DVD and Blu-ray editions in the on-demand library as well.

Initially, the XOS Digital apps on the PlayStation 3 system will offer full access to original programming, including:

  • Weekly pre-game analysis from the XOS Digital Studio
  • Post-game highlights immediately after games
  • “Game of the Week” extended highlight
  • Next-day full games for purchase
  • Classic games and documentaries dating back to the 1950s
  • Free daily programming including “SEC Today,” “Countdown to Kickoff,” “SEC in the Paint” and weekly coaches teleconferences

“The XOS powered apps on PlayStation 3 will create an in-depth library for consumers to access on-demand college sports content through their PlayStation 3 device,” said Chris McCleary, CEO, XOS Digital. “Over-the-top devices, including gaming consoles, are quickly catching on as the future of television viewing.”

PlayStation Network users can download the applications now from the “Media & Apps” category in the PlayStation Store and launch it from the TV/Video Services icon of the XMB (XrossMediaBar).
