Briam Nyemchek Named VP, NBC Sports Vertical

Brian Nyemchek, an 18-year television ad sales veteran, has been promoted to Vice President, NBC Sports Vertical and will co-manage the sports properties that air primarily on NBC and the NBC Sports Network, with the exception of golf and the Olympics. He reports directly to Seth Winter, EVP, Sales & Sales Marketing, NBC Sports Group.

Nyemchek and fellow vice president Jay Marsac together lead the NBC Sports Group’s sales efforts for the NFL, NHL, Triple Crown horse racing, Notre Dame Football, French Open, Tour de France, MLS, IZOD IndyCar Series, and numerous other properties, plus original programs such as Costas Tonight, NFL Turning Point, and NBC SportsTalk, all of which air on NBC and/or the NBC Sports Network.

“Brian is an exceptional leader with a legacy of success as both an AE and a manager,” said Winter. “He has developed significant client and agency relationships, and has earned broad marketplace respect in the five-plus years he’s been with our group. We are delighted that he is joining our leadership team.”

Nyemchek’s promotion continues a strategy of aligning Sales personnel with the businesses that evolved from the formation of the NBC Sports Group in January, 2011. The current structure divides NBC Sports Group properties into three distinct sales verticals: NBC Sports, led by Nyemchek and Marsac; Olympics, led by Paul Wilson, VP, Olympic Sales; and Golf, led by Tom Paredes, VP, NBC Sports Group Golf Vertical. Embedded within each of these verticals and aligned in a similar fashion is the NBC Sports Group digital sales team, led by Nick Johnson, SVP, NBC Sports Group Digital Sales.

“The formation of the NBC Sports Group allowed us to examine new and more efficient ways to structure our department to better serve our advertisers; and, at the same time, maximize revenue across these new assets,” said Winter. “We have an experienced and respected staff that is well positioned to take advantage of the anticipated growth of the NBC Sports Group, which will benefit our partner clients and agencies.”

Nyemchek, Marsac, Wilson, Paredes, and Johnson all report to Winter, who was recently promoted to EVP by Marianne Gambelli, President, Network Ad Sales, NBCUniversal.

Nyemchek has been with NBC Sports for five years, most recently serving as an account executive. In this role, he worked on the NFL, NHL, Notre Dame Football, horse racing, and tennis, among other properties.
