Campus Clips: Fox College Sports to Carry KStateHD.TV Programming; Frank Martin, Shaka Smart Added to CBS/Turner Tournament Coverage

Kansas State Athletics and Fox College Sports (FCS) announced Wednesday an agreement to distribute K-StateHD.TV programming to a national audience – including live coverage of seven K-State baseball games this season. Beginning this weekend, FCS will carry the entire Texas series produced by K-StateHD.TV. The network will also carry the April 13 and 15 games against Baylor, the April 27 contest against Oklahoma State and the May 12 game against Kansas. FCS is carried in the Manhattan area on the Sports & Information Tier of Cox Cable, channel 265, and also on DirecTV, channel 617. Through the agreement with FCS and its other television partners, 10 of K-State’s 12 home conference games will be televised. Additionally, FCS will air the Brad Hill Show on five occasions throughout the season as host Brian Smoller talks with the head coach of the Wildcats about K-State baseball. The network will also carry Wildcat Showcase, a 30-minute highlight show of K-State Athletics, five times during the spring…

…CBS Sports and Turner Sports have added Kansas State head coach Frank Martin and Virginia Commonwealth head coach Shaka Smart as guest studio analysts for the 2012 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, airing across TBS, CBS, TNT and truTV. Martin will serve as a guest analyst in the New York studio, joining host Greg Gumbel and analysts Charles Barkley, Greg Anthony and Kenny Smith, for the Regional Finals on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25, which will air on CBS. Smart joins the Atlanta studio team of host Ernie Johnson and analysts Steve Smith and Seth Davis, working the Regional Semi-Final and Finals on Thursday, March 22, Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24, which will air across CBS and TBS…

…Niagara University has announced a restructuring of its intercollegiate athletics program which includes the addition of women’s track and field as a varsity program and the immediate contraction of the women’s ice hockey program. Niagara’s track and field program will begin competition during the 2013-14 academic year. In addition, money will be invested into the university’s women’s lacrosse program to meet the standards outlined by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC)…

…College Hockey America (CHA) has officially admitted the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) women’s hockey team into the CHA beginning with the 2012-13 season. The announcement follows RIT winning its first NCAA Championship on March 17.  RIT has to go through the NCAA two-year provisional period before being eligible for NCAA Tournament play, but the Tigers will be able to be a part of the CHA Tournament starting next season, since the CHA does not have an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
