Fox Sports Ups John Entz to EVP of Production/Executive Producer

Fox Sports Media Group (FSMG) has elevated John Entz to Executive Vice President, Production and Executive Producer. Entz will report directly to Randy Freer and Eric Shanks, Presidents and Co-COOs of FSMG. Based in Los Angeles, Entz assumes his new position immediately and becomes the fifth executive producer in FOX Sports’ 18-year history, joining FSMG Chairman & CEO David Hill, Vice Chairman Ed Goren, the late Doug Sellars and Shanks, who retains the title.

Entz now oversees all studio and event production for the networks and entities within FSMG, including FOX Sports, the FOX Sports Regional Networks, SPEED, FOX Deportes, FOX Soccer, FUEL TV and FOXSports.com. Entz also serves in an advisory capacity to the Big Ten Network.

Prior to being named to this position, Entz served as Senior Vice President, Production, FSMG. Entz succeeds Sellars, who passed away unexpectedly this past winter.

“John is the consummate pro, a true leader and one of the most innovative and creative producers in our business,” says Shanks. “He is a tremendous asset to the FOX Sports family and we know he will enjoy great success in his new role, helping to maintain our standing as the industry leader in sports television production excellence.”

Entz served as Senior Vice President of Production for MLB Network since September 2008, helping to launch it. He was responsible for overseeing the look and presentation of MLB Network’s studio programming and game coverage. In MLB Network’s first year on the air, Entz oversaw 2,300 live hours of programming, including the network’s signature MLB Tonight studio show and coverage of breaking news and special events.

“It is a tremendous honor to be elevated to this role and follow some of the greatest sports producers in the history of sports television,” Entz says. “I’m looking forward to the great challenge of continuing the storied production tradition at FOX Sports while also helping to continue to build every FSMG property into the greatest sports assets in the world.”

Entz was formerly a Vice President and Executive Producer at Fox Sports Net where he produced the MLB All-Star Game Red Carpet Show, BCS pregame specials for FOX Sports, as well as working on FOX Sports’ Super Bowl pregame coverage. He also oversaw the daily production of THE BEST DAMN SPORTS SHOW PERIOD and the show’s Top 50 Countdown specials for many years.

Prior to joining FOX in 2005, Entz worked at ESPN as an Associate Producer and Production Assistant on SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight and NFL Primetime where he won a Sports Emmy Award.

In March of 2010, Entz was honored as one of Sports Business Journal’s “40 Under 40.”
