Brazil’s TV Record Taps ATEME, STI Telecom for HD

ATEME and STI Telecom have delivered a turnkey HD distribution platform for TV Record. Installed in São Paulo, the fully redundant satellite uplink system integrated by STI Telecom includes ATEME Kyrion encoders and decoders. It is broadcasting TV Record´s HD free-to-air channel all over Brazil via Star One´s C2 Satellite. This is just the first of many projects by TV Record to accelerate the expansion of their HD TV service to all Brazilian states and cities.

“This satellite uplink was designed by our engineering team to distribute TV Record´s main High Definition TV signal to all our affiliates, to feed our terrestrial UHF Digital re-transmitters, and also to reach TV Record´s audience in rural areas of Brazil”, explains José Marcelo Amaral, CTO of Rede Record.

“For this first HD-SAT deployment, we were looking for a committed partner that could offer best of breed technology and professional integration and support services; ATEME and STI Telecom’s experience of both DVB and ISDBT standards was a decisive factor in our selection” adds Mister Amaral.

Raul E. Rivera, Director of Sales for Latin America at ATEME, says, “This is the first commercial deployment of HD-SAT for TV Record, and it is really exciting for us to participate in bringing pristine high definition quality content free to air to rural communities. Undertaking such project would not have been possible without the expertise and support of our partner STI Telecom, a true extension of our engineering team.”
