NAB 2012: Orad To Debut New Version of PowerWall

Orad’s booth will be highlighted by the new version of PowerWall, as well as new enhancements to PlayMaker – Slo-Mo Replay, FDL – Sensor free first down line system, ADVision – Virtual sport advertising, MVP – Sports enhancements, PowerPlay – Fast turnaround workflow, and TrackVision – Sensor free football enhancements.

PowerWall
The new version of Orad’s PowerWall offers the ability to generate eight genlocked 1080P (3G) or 16 HD 1080i SDI signals tiled across the video wall according to the required shape and size.  Multiple output options allow the HDVG4 to closely match the resolution and aspect ratio of the video wall. Resolutions range from 3840×1080 for the 2×1 video wall configurations, 7680×2160 for 4×2, and a staggering 15360×2160 in the 8×2 arrangement, all from a single HDVG4. Support for high resolutions enables broadcasters to zoom in on content without it becoming pixelated.

The HDVG4 platform can accept up to 8 HD or 8 SD live video insertions, as well as video clips wrapped in industry-standard formats.  Videos can be mapped to different graphical elements on the video wall. All video elements become an integral part of the templates and do not need to be overlaid as ‘picture-in-picture’ objects.

Generated from a single box, all graphical elements including, tickers, videos, and animated items remain synchronized across the whole video wall, with no tearing visible on any sections of the output.

The PowerWall configurator tool lets users easily adjust the properties of the video signal without having access to the engineering controls on the video wall. Users can adjust the size, position, edges and colour balance of the whole wall or individual signals directly from the control PC.

PlayMaker – Slo-Mo Replay
Orad will showcase several additional products for the sports industry, including its PlayMaker slow-motion replay server. PlayMaker provides up to 8 I/O channels of high quality ingest in multiple video formats, with synchronized slow motion replay, and powerful yet simple editing tools. New features include events tagging and support for Avid’s DNxHD codec.

In addition to its 60 hours of HD (100mbps) recording, PlayMaker now offers a cyclic recording mode, enabling ongoing recordings. Each clipped item is automatically protected, while the parts which are not required are overwritten automatically.

FDL – Sensor free first down line system
FDL graphic enhancement package turns any football broadcast into an exciting viewer experience. It provides dynamic first down lines, game enhancement tools, advanced sponsorship options, state of the art technology, and simple operation.

ADVision – Virtual sport advertising
ADVision turns sports events into advertising media platforms able to generate new revenue streams. Based on patented image analysis camera tracking, ADVision allows real-time insertion of virtual ads in any type of sport, eliminating the need for camera sensors. With the embedded clip player option, broadcasters can play tied to the field full motion videos and animated clips.

MVP – Sports enhancements
Emmy Award-winning MVP provides fast preparation of captivating sports highlight clips to better visualize critical plays, the flow of the game, and post-game analysis. New enhancement features include virtual camera flights between two real cameras, viewing a play as it is drawn on the coach’s drawing board comparing the position and technique of individual athletes, drawing a specific player in color on top of a black and white background, breaking down a play into a sequence of frames to better analyze the player’s movements, and more.

PowerPlay – Fast turnaround workflow
PowerPlay is a turnkey solution that manages live sports productions from ingest, through instant highlight editing, to dedicated sports media asset management in a postproduction environment. PowerPlay is designed to provide a complete solution for large scale sporting events, focusing on fast turnaround and advanced data management tools.

TrackVision – Sensor free football enhancements
Relying on Orad’s tracking technology to superimpose virtual graphics over the playing field, TrackVision provides powerful dynamic offside lines, speed of ball, 9 meter distance indicator, advanced sponsorship options and more, with using either static or animated drawings.
