Azzurro TeamCam Scores for 2012 NFL Draft

On Thursday, April 26, the NFL Draft was broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. During the draft, Azzurro provided HD transmit and receive circuits between Radio City and the Azzurro Network Operations Center, located at 32 Avenue of the Americas in New York City.

Madison Square Garden Network (MSG) utilized Azzurro’s Timex Performance Center Venue circuit to cover the Giants draft. The event included live interviews with the team’s head coach and GM, as well as other staff members. The program was broadcast live on MSG from 10:30p-11:30p EST on draft day.

Azzurro also utilized its HD/SDI venue circuit from MetLife Stadium to transmit live hits from both Jets and Giants draft parties. Azzurro received the feed from MetLife and switched into the Azzurro IP Network for delivery to NFL Network Master Control in Culver City, CA.

During this time, the NFL Network also relied heavily on TeamCam, a custom camera system co-designed by Azzurro and NFL which enables remote talent, coach, and player interviews to be instantly transmitted over a private IP Network. There are currently 48 NFL TeamCam systems deployed throughout the country; one at every NFL team site, one in the NFL League Offices (345 Park Ave, NYC), and several remote analyst home and office locations. This infrastructure gives the NFL Network full transmission and remote camera control of all team locations at a moment’s notice using custom touch screen software.

During the draft, the TeamCam System was exclusively responsible for carrying all NFL reporters for several days leading up to the draft and was used almost exclusively during the draft itself, providing flawless content delivery.

The infrastructure allowed for instantaneous transitions between Radio City, NFL Network Studios, and TeamCam sites. Content included exclusive talkbacks and War Room look-ins, showing real-time decision making and reactions to live picks.
Additionally, The TeamCam System at the NFL League Office was used as a feed point to send 30+ hours of taped content that could not be fed via production truck.
