CBS Sports Scoops Up Additional Hoops Rights to ACC, Big 12, and Pac-12 Games

CBS announced yesterday that it acquired the rights to 26 college basketball games from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Big 10, and pac-12 Conferences in a deal with ESPN. The multi-year agreement kicks in this fall.

The deal provides for 26 additional appearances per year, except for the first year which calls for 20 appearances, from top tier teams across the various Conferences, including six ACC appearances during the first-year of the deal and then 12 ACC appearances through the remainder of the agreement.

“This is an important deal for CBS Sports which solidifies our regular season college basketball schedule for the next several years and also expands our quality ACC inventory,” says Mike Aresco, Executive Vice President, Programming, CBS Sports. “The deal also affords CBS access to quality inventory from the Big 12 and Pac-12 Conferences as well as some Championship games.”

In addition, CBS Sports will broadcast the Missouri Valley Conference Championship game for the length of the agreement and the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship game in 2013.

“This deal means that CBS will continue to have top-tier college basketball product from all the major conferences for the next several years and CBS will thereby remain college basketball’s leading network broadcaster,” added Aresco. “This continued strong regular-season presence on Network television creates excitement and interest leading into March on the Road to the Final Four.”
