Facebook IPO Broadcast Live in HD Using Adtec Digital

Touted as one of the most anticipated IPO’s in modern history, Friday’s opening bell on the Facebook IPO was broadcast live around the world thanks to satellite provider Rough House Productions LLC using Adtec Digital’s compression solutions.

“The Facebook IPO was broadcast exclusively in HD through my truck via Adtec,” says Rough House Productions Owner Andy Royer. “Thanks to Adtec we are able to provide all applications our clients require, from SD to HD MPEG 4, DVB-S/S2, 8QPSK modulation, and more. It affords us the opportunity to be a truck of choice for such great events as this one.”

“We used the pairing of Adtec’s EN-81 encoder and RD-60 decoder. The clients were very pleased we could accommodate MPEG 4 compression,” adds Royer. “I heard about Adtec some four years ago when we were a small start-up company. We initially chose Adtec because we were looking for a product that could do everything for our clients and was both a cost effective product and one that offered no compromises on performance or service. Adtec’s customer service department has been wonderful. From helping me with difficult problems to helping me with my bonehead questions, they have been great!”

The EN-81 is designed especially for Tier 1 satellite, ASI/fiber and IP contribution and DSNG applications. It offers HD and SD MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC encoding and boasts 16 channels of audio.

Adtec’s RD-60 supports MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 platforms with 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 HD and SD decoding. It boasts 16 channels of audio, including MPEG-1 Layer 2, Dolby AC3/5.1, HE-AAC, AAC-LC audio decoding.
