WWE, Full Sail Launch Partnership

The WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) and media-arts college Full Sail University have announced a partnership that moves live tapings of the WWE NXT series to Full Sail Live, the university’s high-tech performance venue. The venture also creates a student scholarship fund. Beginning May 17, students of the university’s entertainment-focused degree programs — Film, Show Production, Digital Arts and Design, Internet Marketing, and Entertainment Business — have the opportunity to gain real-world experience working with WWE to produce NXT during live tapings on the school’s campus.

Full Sail Live’s sound system is a Meyer MICA line array and includes a 14-channel surround system. However, Full Sail Director of Audio Dana Roun says WWE will be using the system in stereo mode.

Other equipment on hand includes an Avid Venue D Show console and DiGiCo SD7 desk for FOH and Midas Heritage and DiGiCo SD8 consoles for monitors. Avid Pro Tools integrated into the Venue console are used for tracking and for stereo feeds to the facility’s HD broadcast suite. WWE will use MADI cards for additional digital outputs from the record suite.

“These guys have put our facility to the test,” says Roun. “They are utilizing all the production gear available from audio, as well as lighting, media servers, and visual-display systems.”

All proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales will go toward a scholarship fund for students enrolled at or planning to attend Full Sail University.

WWE NXT airs in more than 60 countries worldwide and also on WWE.com.
