Korea’s CJ PowerCast Relies on Aspera’s fasp Technology for File Transport, Management

Korea’s CJ PowerCast has chosen and deployed Aspera’s fasp transport and management technologies to automate and administer their digital asset systems.

The Korean media and entertainment organization specializes in areas such as movies, sports, music, animation, lifestyle, and documentaries. The company operates a diverse range of cable, satellite, and IPTV channels as well as regional TV stations. CJ PowerCast also offers an extensive range of postproduction, digital advertising, and content management services.

To satisfy its vast requirements for file transfer and digital asset automation, CJ PowerCast selected the web-based Aspera Connect Server and Aspera Console management platform. They have been integrated into CJ PowerCast’s systems and portals using Aspera’s set of APIs to facilitate mission critical media asset exchange with partners in Asia, Europe, and North America.

“We were first interested in Aspera because so many of our media partners already have large Aspera deployments and swear by the technology,” says CJ PowerCast’s senior research manager, Jaemin Hwang. “With over 1600 customers worldwide we knew that Aspera had an excellent reputation. But after conducting our proof of concept tests, we realized the reasons why: bulletproof security, perfect bandwidth utilization, and open APIs that let us quickly adapt fasp and the Aspera Connect Server into our existing infrastructure and live systems to run our business more efficiently.”

Aspera President John Wastcoat adds: “CJ PowerCast has the kind of complex business use cases that we’re seeing from more and more of our global customer base. They need the ability to transfer, manage, report and automate from within their existing systems, and they need to do it quickly. Our diverse platform support and powerful—but very easy to use—APIs allow us to meet and exceed customer expectations, and continue growing the business at such a fast rate.”
