Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic Names Rebecca O’Sullivan-Schulte President

Rebecca O’Sullivan-Schulte has been promoted to President of Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, as announced by Jon Litner, Group President of NBC Sports Group. O’Sullivan-Schulte has served as Senior Vice President and General Manager since joining Comcast SportsNet in March 2007.

“Rebecca’s strong leadership and innovation has guided Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic to its position as the preeminent destination for sports fans in the region,” said Litner. “The network has experienced significant growth across all business areas and platforms, including game coverage, original programming and digital media.”

Under O’Sullivan-Schulte’s leadership, Comcast SportsNet has become the leading source for multiplatform sports coverage in the Washington-Baltimore region. In addition to the network’s award-winning game coverage of the region’s top teams, she has led the creation of several dynamic entertainment programs – including SportsTalk Live and Redskins Nation – and expanded signature news and game-day shows. She has also overseen the launch and rapid development of the network’s digital media platforms, which are highlighted by CSNwashington.com and CSNbaltimore.com.

O’Sullivan-Schulte has also been instrumental in establishing and expanding valuable team and league partnerships for the network. These partnerships have enhanced the network by increasing the amount and quality of live-event coverage, entertainment programming, and digital media content that it provides to viewers. These include agreements with the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Ravens, and Atlantic Coast Conference, as well as several individual colleges.

A native of Los Angeles, O’Sullivan-Schulte joined Comcast SportsNet after serving as general manager of Fox Sports Net Arizona from 2002 to 2005. She also held a number of other senior-level production and marketing positions with Fox, serving as coordinating producer for Best Damn Sports Show Period, overseeing the promotional launch of NASCAR on Fox Sports and Fox Sports Net, and developing branding, marketing, and media campaigns to promote marquee sporting events.

O’Sullivan-Schulte has been recognized by her peers with numerous industry awards and honors, including the Women in Cable Telecommunications Geraldine B. Laybourne Fearless Award, an Emmy Award, a Grand Clio Advertising Award, a Gold Promax Award and the W.P. Carey School of Business Distinguished Champion Award. She was named to the 2011 Broadcasting & Cable ‘Women in the Game’ list of top sports television executives and inaugural class of the Sports Business Journal’s ‘Game Changers: Women in Sports Business.’

She has been named to the CableFax ‘Most Powerful Women in Cable’ and ‘CableFax 100’ regional list in each of the last three years (2011, 2010, and 2009.) In 2010, O’Sullivan-Schulte was on the Multichannel News ‘Women to Watch’ list and was recently named as one of the Washington Business Journal’s ‘Women Who Mean Business,’ recognizing her place among the top businesswomen in the Washington area.
