TV Antennas Making a Comeback (Video)

Ligonier, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – A weak economy and changing television technology are bringing back a household staple of the 1950’s and ’60’s.

These are hi-def digital antennas that pick up broadcast signals just like in the old days.

Schultz says he’s installing about five antennas a week.

He says people can get fifteen to thirty digital channels over the airwaves for free and they’re dropping cable, Dish Network and Direct TV in droves.

Andy Schultz of Indiana Antenna Supply says, “People can’t afford or don’t want to have a monthly payment for television billing. With this you own the antenna, the antenna doesn’t own you like a monthly contract.”

Digital TV antennas cost about $200 and most homeowners can install them themselves.
