Behind the Mic: NBC Adds Carolyn Manno as Football Night in America Reporter; ESPN Re-inks Russillo, Renames Van Pelt Show

Carolyn Manno, who joined NBCUniversal in August of 2009 as an anchor/reporter for Comcast SportsNet New England, and made her Olympic debut at the 2012 Olympic Summer Games in London as a sports desk anchor and reporter, has signed a multi-year agreement with NBC Sports Group. As part of her new agreement, Manno serves as a reporter on NBC’s NFL studio show, Football Night in America, as well as on NBC and NBC Sports Group coverage of college football and basketball. Additionally, she will be a host on NBC Sports Group’s MLS coverage, and SportsDesk updates, and will serve as a correspondent for NBC Sports Group’s action sports coverage, including the Dew Tour. Manno will also have a role in the new NBC Sports Radio Network as well as a role with NBC’s coverage of the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games…

…ESPN Radio’s Ryen Russillo has agreed to a multi-year contract extension, prompting a change to the name of the network’s afternoon show from The Scott Van Pelt Show, to SVP & Russillo (1-4 p.m. ET M-F, simulcast 1-3 p.m. ESPNEWS). Russillo was named co-host of ESPN Radio’s Scott Van Pelt Show in May, 2009. Additionally, Russillo hosts the network’s College GameDay (noon-7 p.m. Saturdays throughout the football season)…

…CBS Sports Radio announced Jim Rome will serve as host of The Jim Rome Show, broadcast live weekdays from 12:00Noon-3:00PM, ET beginning on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Also at the start of the new year, Rome deliver the CBS Sports Minute, sixty-second commentaries that can be heard hourly on CBS Sports Radio affiliate stations.  Rome recently signed a multi-year agreement with CBS contributing across a variety of platforms.  In addition to his weekday ROME show on CBS Sports Network, he provides commentary for CBS Sports and CBSSports.com.  Further, Rome will also be hosting a talk series for Showtime, which will air later this Fall on the premium network.

CBS Sports Radio has also named Scott Ferrall as host of the network’s weekday evening program.  Broadcast live from 10:00PM-2:00AM, ET “Ferrall on the Bench” will take listeners through the day’s headlines and most talked about topics in sports, generate spirited discussions with callers, and conduct captivating interviews with a variety of special guests…

…FOX Sports San Diego (FSSD) has announced the broadcast team for the “Battle on the Midway” basketball game to be played on Friday, Nov. 9 atop the flight deck of the historic USS Midway Museum Aircraft Carrier anchored in San Diego Harbor.  The game, which will feature the San Diego State Aztecs and the the Syracuse Orange, will be called by Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Dick Enberg and TNT NBA Analyst Steve Kerr. Erin Andrews, who currently hosts the FOX COLLEGE SATURDAY college football pregame show and makes significant contributions to the network’s NFL and MLB coverage, will report from the sidelines and contribute to pre- and post-game coverage. FOX Sports San Diego’s Mike Pomeranz will host pre- and post-game coverage…

…SportsCenter anchors Hannah Storm and John Anderson will lead the ESPN team of commentators as host and play-by-play for ESPN’s live telecast of the ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 4. Nationally, the telecast will be available on ESPN2 and on computers at WatchESPN.com and on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app. ESPN’s Storm and Anderson will be joined by analysts Carrie Tollefson and Tim Hutchings and reporter Lewis Johnson. Tollefson is an Olympian and five-time NCAA champion in track and field and cross country. Hutchings, an Olympian and former international distance runner, and Johnson, an All-American in track, both covered the 2012 Olympic Games. Juli Benson, Ed Eyestone and David Wiley and WABC-TV’s sports anchors Rob Powers and Laura Behnke will also report from the course.
