Axon Promotes New Synapse Long Time Delay at BVE North 2012

On its BVE North stand (E49), Axon Digital Design will highlight the increasingly important role that modular core processing technology plays within modern broadcast workflows, which are characterised as multivendor systems where third party interoperability and some form of unified control mechanism is essential. Within this environment the way in which the various third party system components ‘glue’ together and are controlled and monitored is critical to the success of the overall workflow.

New to Axon’s Synapse modular signal monitoring and processing system is the SLD200. The SLD200 is a long time SD-SDI uncompressed baseband video delay with TWO INDIVIDUAL output delays. It can store and delay up to 2 hour of SD material including all blanking as RAW data. Two individual output format engines allow for two outputs with individual delay (eg +1 Hour and 2 Hour). The SLD200 is ideal for +1 hour film channels, time zone compensation and as a clip server.

This is only one of the over 350 discrete devices which have been developed to support a broadcaster’s ingest, outgest, distribution and transmission chains. Another recent addition to the Synapse range is the innovative SynCross modular router. Routing up to 40×40 over fiber, SDI, CVBS and HDMI is possible and it can be combined with any other Synapse modules and also with Axon’s SynView multiviewers within the same Synapse form factor.

Critically, Axon’s Cortex monitoring and control system has been developed with the aim of collecting and collating system information and providing operational staff with a meaningful picture of the operational status of the entire system, including the widest range of third party devices. Axon’s TRACS compliance system offers an easy and cost-effective solution to the legally obliged compliance requirements.

Finally, Axon’s strength lies as much in its team as its technology. The company has recently appointed Adrian Richmond as UK area sales manager. Richmond will be responsible for supporting a number of key UK accounts as well as developing new business in the region. He brings a wealth of senior level sales and product marketing management experience to Axon. Most recently, he was EMEA Product Manager at Bosch Security Systems, Communications Systems and has previously worked as Sales Manager at Telex Communications.
