SkyCam and CableCam Invest in Facilities and Technology

Outdoor Channel Holdings announced the completion of a large investment in aerial camera facilities and technology by SkyCam and CableCam, allowing them access to a state-of-the-art outdoor test and training center for aerial camera systems.

The center is located on approximately four acres of land adjacent to a shared 45,000 square foot facility in Fort Worth, TX. It includes 100 foot towers, an air conditioned mobile operator’s station and a security perimeter around each tower.

“This test and training center is the first of its kind in the industry,” said Nic Salomon, president of SkyCam and CableCam. “We utilized the center to conduct training ahead of the 2012 football season, and it will facilitate ongoing training along with research and development projects.”

The investment also covers the addition of multiple new camera systems to the SkyCam and CableCam fleet. All SkyCam systems have been upgraded with Sony P1 cameras, and select systems incorporate proprietary digital audio technology. “With these changes, fans will now see and hear the action like never before, on more games than ever before,” said Nic Salomon. And he indicated there are more developments in the works. “The pipeline of new technology is larger than it has ever been. We remain very excited about the future.”

The SkyCam and CableCam systems center around a sophisticated, computer-controlled cable suspension system that support, stabilize and allow for three dimensional movement of a camera to capture overhead video of major events. Putting the viewer right in the middle of an event, the use of aerial cameras has significantly changed the way sports and other entertainment programming are broadcasted both domestically and internationally by delivering angles and revealing perspectives that dramatically enhance the quality of coverage. SkyCam and CableCam’s clients are among the biggest names in network and cable television.
