Teradek Targets Sports Market, Delivers HD Video Over 3G/4G Networks
The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome Teradek as a premier sponsor. The company creates highly versatile encoders and accompanying transmission systems for live HD-video broadcast and review over WiFi, Ethernet, and 3G/4G networks.
Teradek products have been used by professional sports associations and teams including the U.S. Olympic Snowboarding team, Los Angeles Kings, Miami Heat, Philadelphia Eagles, and Arizona Cardinals.
“We joined the SVG to expand our presence within the sports industry, which happens to be one of our fastest-growing markets,” says VP of Sales Jon Landman. “Our products empower individuals and sports teams with unparalleled mobility and versatility both on and off the field for applications such as instant replay, live broadcasting, and real-time monitoring.”
The U.S. Olympic Snowboarding Team uses Teradek Cube and Case products for real-time instant-replay analysis on iPads and iPhones, which provides a great educational tool for snowboarders who need to review how they performing while going through a half pipe or down a mountain.
The NFL uses Cube miniature HD encoders for injury prevention, attaching them to cameras that are then used to follow players on the field who appear injured. Several of the company’s Bond camera-top cellular bonding solutions were used to televise Super Bowl XLVI, transmitting comprehensive pre- and post-game supplemental coverage live and on the air to the Internet in HD.
Teradek Cube and Bond are also used by the Los Angeles Kings and Miami Heat for streaming live game coverage and other events back to their control rooms. The Pac-12 chose the company’s encoder for streaming more than 30 IPTV channels.
In addition to professional sports, Teradek products are used by video professionals in cinema, broadcast news, government, and higher education. The privately held R&D company offers a wide range of state-of-the-art wireless video products for electronic newsgathering, live video production, and broadcast contribution. All Teradek products are designed and manufactured in Orange County, CA, and are distributed worldwide.
