Texas Tech Stadium Construction on Track with New Video Board

LubbockOnline.com reports that the $11 million construction project at the north end of Jones AT&T Stadium should be substantially complete by July 2, a Texas Tech official said Friday, March 29, leaving time for fine-tuning before the Red Raiders’ Sept. 7 home opener.

Workers have erected two tiers of a five-tier super structure that will support a new high-definition video board above the stadium’s old ticket office.

Tech regents approved the project in August.

Michael Molina, Tech vice chancellor for facilities planning and construction, said the structure includes 275 tons of steel above ground and 54 tons below ground, embedded in about 400 cubic yards of concrete. Six piers on the west side of the structure and six on the east go almost 50 feet deep.
