1939's "The Wizard of Oz" to get IMAX 3D Run

Family-room.ew.com reports and confirms from USA Today reports that The Wizard of Oz, the beloved 1939 classic, is getting a 3D and IMAX makeover from Warner Bros. and then returning to IMAX theaters for one week starting Sept. 20, EW has confirmed. The studio has remastered the film, so fans will see enhanced yellow brick roads and a glowing green Emerald City.

The re-release is part of the studio’s promotion for Oz‘s 75th anniversary edition, which will arrive Oct. 1. The five-disc set will include a Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD and UltraViolet versions of the film, a new documentary on the making of the movie as well as bonus features, according to USA Today.
