LTN Global Communications Makes Waves in Sports Industry at Home and Abroad

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome LTN Global Communications as a corporate sponsor. Founded in 2007 and based in Savage, MD, the company offers an innovative, IP-based video-transport solution featuring high levels of quality, reliability, and flexibility.

Utilizing the power and flexibility of the cloud, LTN developed a proprietary, fully managed global network of intelligent super-nodes connected by redundant links from multiple Tier 1 carriers. The network enables instantaneous live video delivery with consistent quality and reliability anywhere in the world. It meets stringent performance standards while offering greater flexibility and lower costs than satellite or fiber.

LTNLTN Global Communications entered sports-video broadcasting by carrying live full-time channels of international sports games. The company has delivered live AFL football games from Australia to the U.S. for niche market segments and live full-time soccer matches from Portugal to Canada and the U.S. for the Sport TV channel. LTN also carries taped feeds from different locations to ESPN, Fox Sports, and many others across the U.S.

“SVG gives LTN Global the opportunity to expand its live-video-delivery services into athletics,” says Chairman Malik Khan. “LTN provides a more flexible, lower-cost alternative for live, broadcast-quality video delivery compared to satellite and fiber. We are excited to work with SVG as we offer the sports world a new alternative that meets the stringent demands of professional broadcasting.”

Recently, the NFL has accessed LTN capabilities. The Washington Redskins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, and others have used LTN to carry their pre- and post-game interviews along with clips from preseason games and camps. The Buffalo Bills deployed LTN’s technology and service to transport video feeds for away games to Ralph Wilson Stadium this year. An LTN mobile flypack allows teams to transmit video from any location where they have the appropriate Internet connection.

LTN’s service has been widely adopted by major broadcasters, affiliates, and studios for both contribution and distribution. Fox, CNN, CNBC, and other major broadcasters currently use the service to deliver live news interviews.
